There are various train services to the airport, but these are your two main choices: the express CAT (City Airport Train) or the slower S7 Schnellbahn (city train).
The CAT (City Airport Train)
This is the dedicated train link between Vienna and the airport. It leaves from Wien Mitte and delivers you to the airport (and vice versa) in 16 minutes, with no stops en route. The trains begin early morning and depart every 30 minutes until late evening: 5.36 am to 11.06 pm. Terminal Wien Mitte terminal is located in 10 minutes from St. Stephen's Cathedral. Wien Mitte is a fairly central and large station sitting on various public transport lines (Train S1, S2, S3, S4, S7 and more, Tram O and 1, Bus 74A and Subway).
Single - 11 EUR.
Return - 19 EUR.
A separate CAT counter is located in the arrivals hall, where you can obtain information about all CAT services, purchase a ticket and much more.
S7 is an electrified commuter rail service operating between Floridsdorf and Vienna International Airport, with extended southbound service to Wolfsthal in the greater Vienna area and northbound service to Laa an der Thaya, sometimes ending in Wolkersdorf and Mistelbach. This is the city train that stops at various points in Vienna and goes out to the airport and beyond and back again. It’s a little slower than the CAT with stops en route, so takes around 23 minutes from Wien Mitte. You can leave/reach from any of these Viennese stations: Floridsdorf, Handelskai, Traisengasse, Praterstern, Wien Mitte, Rennweg, St. Marx, Geiselbergstraße, Zentralfriedhof, Kaiserebersdorf, Schwechat, Mannswörth, Flughafen Wien (VIE).
Trains operated by Austrian Railways (ÖBB) provide fast and easy travel. With railjet trains, you can reach Vienna International Airport quickly and easily from any Austrian state capital, either directly or with one change at Wien Hauptbahnhof (Vienna Main station). The ÖBB railjet train service serves Vienna International Airport via Vienna Main station twice an hour. The fastest connection gets you there from Salzburg in only 2 hours 49 mins, from Linz in 1 hour 41 mins, from St Pölten in 55 mins and from Vienna Main station in just 15 mins. We will bring you to your flight in peace while you browse travel guides or arrange business meetings. From the station, it’s just a short indoor walk to the terminal building. Step-free access is also available.
